"research a handful of venues (about six)" wait... wouldn't that be five?
Right now I am leaning towards look at reading and how the awe is healing. Here are some possible venues:
1) Sometimes Sweet: this is a blog I follow regularly. Jane and I were discussing where I could focus and she suggested "mommy blogs" (I had said that I didn't want to be preachy with my topic or target teachers or school aged folk because they would be like well no duh). This blog immediately came to mind. While I don't know if it is considered a true "mommy blog," she often has very intellectually posts including book reviews and weekly journal prompts (I guess she was previously an English teacher so...) and I think that maybe this would be a different and interesting audience to post to.

2) Imagining America Conference: I found this by searching for "better life conference 2014." One of their key questions for this year is "What practices, strategies, and tactics will inspire and support the work of organizing culture change in ways that help us close the gap between our own best judgments of “the world as it is” and “the world as it should be”?" So they seem to be all about people making their lives better. There is some mention about specifically in higher education and it was a little confusing about who they were targeting so it might be a stretch but their call for presenter is through April. They also accept other forms of media and presentations. Which leads me to.....
3) Public Imagining America's online journal. They linked to this from their conference page. I think going in this direction might be less of a stretch. They also take media submissions which could be cool.
4) 2014 Mormon Scholars in the Humanities Conference I found this one by searching for "humanities conference better life 2014" wasn't even looking for Mormon things... Their topic this year is "narrative." Again, this might be a stretch but they are just interested in the things Mormons are researching. Not a big deal though because the submission deadline has passed anndd it is the same day as our symposium and I am pretty sure Sirpa would have a heart attack if I was not there.
5) Society for the Scientific Study of Reading I Googled "conference reading 2014 call for papers". These guys are all about reading and anything to do with reading. Their date has passed, but I could get lucky like Paul.
6) BYU Women's Services This one kind of represents an idea as a whole. I think so often women are concerned with being healed or becoming whole and there are a lot of organizations out there like this one. I think that because of this common interest of being a better person, that a guest post on a blog or article in a magazine may be appreciated.
BONUS:
7) BYU English Symposium You would think that for this being my third year organizing (or at least helping) the symposium that I would present. If we could get together a panel, I know some people (hahaha) that could probably arrange some things to work something out. Or there is always next year!
